The list below is not comprehensive, as anything used in other sections will be linked within those sections, and not always repeated. Some articles below may not be mentioned in the main section on his life, but added here for documentation and interest. Any new findings will be added later.

1912

Salon d’automne – Sacha is mentioned on page 257 for 2 gouache pieces of artwork, his address is given as Moulin Vert (location of his studio).

1913

✦ June – Le Rire – A soldier tells a woman to stop crying or she’ll meet the Kronprinz.*

1918

✦ July – La Gironde – Mention of a drawing of a Russian soldier by Sacha. 

1919

✦ April – Le Populaire – Sacha is mentioned with other humorists.

✦ June – La Liberte – Mentions a ‘wonderful portrait’ by Sacha who is just ‘back from the Orient’.

✦ October – La Chronique des Arts de la curiosite – Sacha’s art is described beside that of Kisling and others. 

✦ October – La Liberte – Sacha’s work will be presented at the Tableau d’Art. 

✦ November – La Lanterne – Also mentions an exhibition at Galerie Tableau d’Art where Sacha will show his work – and the army of the Orient.

✦ January – La Semaine a Paris – An exhibition will be held at La Rotonde. Sacha is mentioned alongside Foujita. 

✦ March – L’Express du Midi – Sacha’s drawings are described as ‘strange’. Note that this newspaper is for Toulouse and ‘Sud-Ouest’.

1924

✦ May – Aux Ecoutes – Sacha attends a ball with Metzinger and a few other Jewish artists like Wassilief. He’s on a balcony with Metzinger, Redfeather, Coubert.

✦ June – La Presse – Sacha (alongside other humorists like Saint-Ogan) attended the ‘Criterium’ of Humorists.

✦ June – L’Auto-Velo – Event described as above and below, Sacha won the ‘prime’ of Aero-Sports’.

✦ April – Comoedia – Mentions this same ball, with those who attended (Ambrosio is misspelled).

✦ December – Journal Officiel de la République française – Goal created to create a circle for Palestinians in Paris, with its head office being 226 rue Saint-Denis, Paris, ‘chez M. A. Zaliouk.’

1926

✦ January – Les Humoristes – Sacha mentioned as part of the Salon des Humoristes in a list of others.

✦ March – L’Affiche Francaise – Sacha’s art is mentioned, name suggest gender/sex discussion.

1928

✦ April – Paris-midi – A longer description of the author’s evening out with Sacha in Montparnasse, when Sacha is drawn as a devil. It describes a ball by La Horde. Dubois’ name is misspelled as Elie. 

✦ April – La Rumeur – Ad by La Horde for their ball, listing those who will be present to drum up interest. 

✦ July – L’Europe illustree – Sacha attends a charity ball by Foujita, with M. Wassilieff mentioned too. 

1929

✦ January – Paris Plaisirs – Drawing of a woman in a swimsuit who looks like the Garçonne image. 

✦ April – L’Oeuvre – Sacha made the programme for below ball, mentioned here. 

✦ April – The Paris Times (in English) – La Horde host a ball and Sacha was the one to produce the programme for it. 

✦ April – L’Auto-Velo – a sports club for artists is created and Sacha is part of it along with Metzinger and Pol Rab. Unsure if they actually took part in it fully or if this was a fun idea. 

✦ April – Le Quotidien – Sacha at the 22nd Salon des Humoristes exhibition.

✦ April – L’Ere nouvelle – The ball for La Horde is also advertised here with a mention of Sacha producing the program for it. They state La Rotonde is their headquarters and that the event will be filmed. The dress code is ‘travesti ou soiree’ (2/4).

✦ May – International Herald Tribune – Describes a dinner held for Kiki, which Sacha attends alongside the likes of Andre Salmon.

✦ May – La Volonte nationale – Sacha and the other Humoristes present their work.

✦ June – L’Univers Israelite – An article is dedicated to Sacha in which it describes his artistic life and how he fought in the war, sent to Macedonia. Similarly very useful as it confirms again that he studied with Raphael Collin (Page 7).

✦ October – Paris-Soir – Review of his art. Short but mentions the faraway look of his subjects.

Paris Montparnasse – Sacha describes his life when he moves to Paris and the First World War.

1931

✦ January – L’Homme Libre – Sacha is mentioned in an article which talks about Montparnasse and the Zaliouks, the Foujitas, etc and the financial benefit of painting, which has changed in recent years and which the author discusses.

1932

✦ February – Le Journal – La Horde holds an exhibition for free; artists are named, Sacha among them.

L’Africain – Description of Sacha’s studio at Moulin-Vert.

✦ December – Cyrano – Rather scathing review of La Horde’s art, including Sacha, which starts out nicely but ends a little flatly. 

1934

✦ April – Brumaire – List of Salon des Humoristes artists, Sacha is among them.

1935

✦ July – La Presse – Mention of Sacha’s studio alongside M. Wassilieff. 

1936

✦ January – Le Monde Illustree – Sacha attends a ball, photographed but the image is poor quality. Metzinger is with him. 

✦ December – Seduction – Describes the changes in Montparnasse from its golden days. It mentions Sacha and the Hordiens – all has disappeared.

1938

✦ March – Le Jour – Sacha is included in the Salon des Humoristes with a funny painting of two men in the desert. 

1939

✦ April – Paris-municipal – Sacha’s work is exhibited beside Picasso and others, mentions how this art echoes back to the time before the ‘Great War’. 

1940

✦ February – Le Petit Parisien – Sacha is mentioned here for an exhibition. Unsure if he remained in Paris or if he could have had this published from a distance given the situation of the war.

1945

Les Ventes publiques en France – Sacha’s work is sold.

1950

✦ July – France-soir – The short paragraph mentions Sacha is lampooning a ‘renaissance’ for the old artists of Montparnasse, again implying the golden age has ended. 

1951

Société des artistes indépendants – Sacha’s art is sold. His address is given as Moulin-Vert.
